As you know, this month is Agorapulse
month right here on my youtube channel. And I thought rather than just bringing
you the how tos and how things work in Agorapulse, I figured why not bring you a couple of
people that use Agorapulse in their day to day life. Hear how they use it and how
it’s saves them a ton of time. So today we have Dustin Stout right here
on my youtube channel and he’ll talk about how we discovered Agorapulse and
how he is using it in his day to today. Right here on my youtube channel,

tell us a little about you. Who are you, what do you do? Just for the people that might not
have stumbled over you online yet? So I’m a speaker entrepreneur,
consultant. I wear a lot of hats. I have three
businesses that I’m currently running. One of them is a software business,
a wordpress plugin, it got very popular some years
back, social warfare. Uh, it’s in my biased opinion, the best
social sharing plugin for wordpress. I also run an agency,
dustin.co where we manage clients, creative content. So anything from social media posts to
full on 2000 plus word Seo optimized articles. We also do a little bit
of web design and some, you know, some strategic consulting and all
in the realm of creatives, you know, digital creatives. Yeah,
that’s me. I also have a blog that some people
read and um, it’s a lot of fun for me. So fellow online nerds love it. I’ve been following you now more or
less behind the scenes. Oh my God. Seven years, eight years. We initially
crossed path, like on Google plus. Yeah.
So probably 2011, something like that.
So how did you, with the topic being
Agorapulse today for us, how did you discover Agorapulse?
How did you come across it? Well, I probably came across
it and years ago when it, you know, it was in its early
stages. As a social media manager, I’m always on the lookout for the next
social media tool to help me better my workflow,
be more efficient, and to be more effective at the
same time. So, you know, I’m, I’m in this constant state
of trying new software. So, or at least I was back in the early days. Now I’m kind of set thanks to Agorapulse, but also having a blog about social media. When I was mentioned in social media
examiner as one of their top blogs. I started getting pitched almost
daily social media software. People emailing me, hey, we’d love
for you to try out our software. And eventually I wrote a
blog post about it, you know, the best ones that I’ve used.
I’m almost positive. I can’t remember 100%, but I’m positive I try to Agorapulse
back in the early days and the interface wasn’t great.
That’s, that’s one of the big things for me is
if your Ux and Ui doesn’t make me feel good, then I’m not going to use your
product. I don’t care how powerful it is, what features it has.
If I hate looking at it and hate using it, I’m not going to use it no
matter what the end result is. So for a long time,
buffer had me, I was a big fan of buffer and then,
you know, even crafted lots of processes for our
agencies and for our clients around buffer.
But it has its limitations. They didn’t have the inbox,
the ability to reply right within there. So we ended up going on
site for our clients and the
native networks to reply to things.
And eventually my buddy Mike Alton, he started working for Agorapulse
and asked me to give it another try, give it a look. And, and I did. And apparently they made a huge upgrade
in the Ui Ux department and I was in love,
absolutely love the interface, the fact that it did have all the things
in one place where we can craft, create, plan, collaborate and reply to comments
and see stats at the same time. It was like the all in one tool that
I’ve been waiting for and it had a beautiful interface and I loved working
in so we completely ditched all other things and committed to Agorapulse
after Mike Allton got me to try it out probably about a little over
a year ago at this point. Yeah, sounds like we can blame Mike for
a few things. Yes, yes. Just good things, Mike. Just good things. So to clarify, it sounds like you are using Agorapulse
not just for your own social media efforts but also for your clients.
Yes. And it also sounded like you already
mentioned your favorite feature. So if you guys don’t know Agorapulse is
a lot about social media inbox zero and it sounds like that might just be
your favorite feature. It’s definitely one of my favorite features. There a lot of things that I love about
Agorapulse and having that inbox right there so that we can respond to comments
and replies and mentions is essential for my personal businesses.
You know, for the software business,
Warfare plugins, being able to respond to customer support
outcries on social media is essential, especially when you can collaborate. We have a great social media person that
I hired to sort of manage that side of things. And while I do the
top level and she’s fantastic. So the fact that we can
collaborate on there, she can highlight things for me
and assign things to me is great. For our clients though we really
focus on the calendar aspect, the scheduling and getting
things fine tuned because again, we’re a creative agency. While we do also do
monitoring and replying, our forte is in crafting and creating
content and scheduling it out for clients. So the scheduler and the visual calendar
is really, from an agency standpoint, my absolute favorite thing,
because we can, we can see everything that’s planned out. We try to do things a week in advance so
the client can at least take a look at it and then we can visually see what
it is we’re doing from a top level. And that’s,
that’s probably the best aspect. Yeah,
I have to agree. The layout of being able
to collaborate in it, no matter if it’s with the team or
with the client as well as the approval feature for me is a big thing. Especially when you work with, with big brands where we have
seen social media goes sideways. Oh yeah. It’s, it’s an additional
security layer off. Okay, this is what we have planned,
this is what we think should go out. And the story we wanted to tell for you, but the client can approve it
and which means you approved it. This is what’s going out.
You have a problem with it. Right.
They can’t just say why did you post this? So, I love that and I haven’t
seen that much in any other tools, but I have to agree. I’m not
looking much anymore either. Yeah. Since I found Agorapulse. With Agorapulse, we talked about the inbox zero,
we talked about working with clients. Is there anything else you love about
the tool or the company when it comes to golf holes? So one of the things that I
really love about the company, and that’s a big selling point
for me too at this point. Again, I’ve gotten pitched so many softwares, so many social media management
tools and at the core of it, once we get past the design and the Ux, because there have been plenty of tools
out there that came with beautiful UX that I was just enamored with. But,
uh, when I look at the company, their business model,
the way that they handle themselves. These companies will go in and out of
business as quickly as you can say, they’ve gone in and out of business. So when I look at specifically Agorapulse, they have a track record of just doing
great work and they’ve withstood the test of time, which for a social media
business, if you can last a year, you’re doing well.
But you know, they’ve withstood test of
time and not only that, but they really do listen to the feedback. So when I first came on board and was
still, you know, moderately skeptical, I was like, oh, well it
doesn’t have this and this. And then our teams really used to
using these features and you know, without that, I think we still got to keep the
other tool and then now use two tools. So that’s kind of inconvenient. Literally within a month those things
were built and I was astonished at how quickly and how responsive their team was.
Even their CEO Emeric, was in a personal chat with me
a few days a week just saying, was that exactly what
you’re talking about? Yes, that’s exactly what I was talking about. Responsiveness and the ability for the
company to listen to feedback and put it into action speaks volumes. I had exactly
the same experience. I’m like, I felt bad at some point because
when I started out with Agorapulse, I started out the same way and this and
that and here and why is this working that way? And not that
way. Those poor guys. I’m like when people
like us, come on, it’s, I don’t want to be in support
at that point. But again, I’m like the response we’ve gotten, I have gotten the same response
that you have gotten. It’s, they’re just approachable. They listened to us or help
figure things out how they work. For somebody that is considering
getting Agorapulse right now, is there something you would tell them
for people that are kind of like on the fence? Well, I mean, I guess it depends
on what they’re on the fence about. If it’s a money issue,
because you know, to be fair, Agorapulse is not the
cheapest software out there. It’s not the most expensive either.
But for everything that you get, the amount of time that you will save
doing other things is more than worth it. I think one thing that a lot of solo
entrepreneurs mostly or early stage startups, one thing that they focus a little bit
too much on is the price tag and they forget to evaluate what their
actual time is more. You know, that that was a powerful day when I
realized myself that my time was so much more valuable than I thought it was. And the amount of time I was wasting
doing these other things that I could have been more streamlined with saved
me not only saved me money, but made me money in the long run.
So if it’s a price issue, trust me, you will save much more time then what
you’re paying for using Agorapulse, having everything in one spot and being
able to not just create, manage, schedule, but respond and analyze well worth, I think what the minimum
plan is $49 a month. Yeah. It’s more than worth it. Yeah.
I have to agree with that. Just by clicking around
between that analytics tool
and that scheduling tool and yeah.
And that Url shortener. Yeah. No, not going to happen. How do we
have a spreadsheet and that spreadsheet? No, no, not going to do that. Yeah. And we haven’t even gotten anything
done yet just by switching between tabs. Right. Exactly. So thanks again, Dustin, for being here with us today.
